Sources: Golden Boy Promotions inquired to Top Rank about the possibly of matching 154-pound titleholder Patrick Teixeira against Terence Crawford. If the fight comes to fruition - no serious talks yet - Crawford would seek a title in a fourth weight division

What do you guys think? Crawford wants a champion next, and Teixeira fits the bill. And most think Spence is done campaigning at 147 so 154 is where the fight could realistically happen later this year.

I think it’s the best move for Crawford since all the PBC welterweight champions are avoiding him. Then he can be avoided by all the PBC super welterweight champions.

They might as well do the fight while they still can. PBC has the WBO mandatory now and I don't think Teixeira would beat Castano. So PBC could pull off a full monopoly at 154. PBC also has the WBO mandatory at welterweight now. So if Crawford moves up, PBC has the full monopoly at welterweight.

Umm. Ok so I'm kinda gonna go out on a limb and figure this was the gameplan all along... it'd been hinted at a coupla times towards the tail end of last year and now seems to tie in with Crawfords seeming reluctance on the Porter front and insistance that they wanted a title fight.

There's not been a confirmation yet from Bud or Bob but I've a pretty good idea that's the way it'll go. Good catch, man.
