  • Comments Thread For: Joe Smith: I Wish I Had 5 More Seconds; Would've Finished Bivol

NEW YORK Joe Smith Jr. is displeased with his subpar performance against Dmitry Bivol. The moment Smith regrets most from that fight actually amounted to one of the few highlights for him. The hard-hitting Smith hurt Bivol with a right hand that landed to the side of Bivol's head at almost exactly the same time as the bell sounded to end the 10th round.

    did he have Bivol hurt?

I remember him literally landing like 1 flush shot in 12 rounds.

      Yup..."another 5 seconds and I woulda...."

How many times have we heard these excuses before? Remember Callum Johnson when he hurt Beterbiev? "I should have jumped on him"

He had 36 minutes in the ring and a 12 week camp to do something. Another 5 seconds is just giving lip service to justify a poor performance.

        It may be a draw.

If George Groves had 10 more seconds he’d have knocked Carl Froch out in 1 round.

Joe Smith has never lived up to his potential, he’s athletic and had big power but never seemed to get the training and sparring he needs for championship level

Hah, well. depends how you look at it... 31:30 end of round 10. Looks like Bivol's kinda stopped and anticipating the bell when Smith clocks him right as the bell rings and jellies his legs.
