NSB PICK EM 2020 #1 and #2. 11th January 2020

I'm a bit surprised as well.
Something going on. I checked out Koba's link for 2017, and the Leaderboard says, "Top 100 Scores". You tellin me in that in 2017 there were over 100 players active in the PICK EMS ?
I imagine we'll pick up several more by the end of January, but Hmmmm ...

When BroBob started it he had a poll system (which is why we got 10 possible fight outcomes incidentally, 3 KO and 2 DEC for each fighter - cos you can only get a maximum of 10 options on a poll). Thing is what you get is when you put up a poll people got a habit of just clicking on it whether or not they really get what it's for it, I thnk they got it mixed up with the fight by fight thread polls and stuff, and he ended up with literally hundreds of players( I think Bob may have mentioned 600 at one point though I could be wrong) most of whom only ever picked once or twice and probably didn't even realise they were part of a predction league, I think one of the reasons BroBob started to struggle was just cos the numbers got so big.

That's a good part of the reason we moved away from the polling system - just seemd like it'd be easier to keep it in hand if the players actually had to write it out and make it perfectly clear they knew that they were playing in the league. Until last year I was still thinking it might be possible to move back to the poll at some point, but now we're settled into doing this way I think we're gonna stick with it for good. Besides it's more personal, chattier, I like that.

Now we're sticking with the written method for picks though it does open up the possibility for changing the DEC picks from 2 to 3 options as I mentioned in the discussion thread. CLOSE, CLEAR and WIDE i reckon rather than the SPLIT I mentioned in the discussion thread. Not this year though. we'll look at it again in the 2021 run up.

Ahhh, the Poll deal, that explains it. That makes sense. Can totally see how there'd be an almost endless slew of, "one n done's".

And yeah once you cleared up that terminology, the 3 methods make a lot of sense. Also liked how you'd coordinate the Draw scores in there , as well....

Yeah...2017 was busy af. We’ll have a lot of people joining between January and February more than likely. Plus there’s actual money available to be won. People will be joining in May tryin to get a Lol cheddar. I also think the fights aren’t that attractive so that’s playing a part as well. If it was a higher profile fight more people would be surfing NSB
