I purposely failed to pick a winner on this Hallows Eve Mega Pick Em II. I want the eventual loser to feel what Meldrick Taylor felt when Chavez came from behind and stopped him.

See those multipliers and beware. Consider them as devastating body shots and right crosses. You’re not gonna make it.

Traditional wisdom suggests that you might not want to wait til the 11th round to unleash your bodyshots, man. How many times you heard the saying that early bodywork is 'money in the bank'?

That said, you are well placed and my ass is gonna be eating your dust once you start bringing those mults into play. As a loose rule of thumb when I'm estimating how well players are doing overall I tend to count each remaining x2 as 30 pts and each remaining x3 as 60, which would give you a total of 2140 with Bob on 2270 and Baltimore on 2230 (but with a x5 in hand) and SNIPER on 2110.

You also gotta be looking over your Shoulder though - if you'll forgive the pun - for 'Roll who's behind you right now but could easily make the top 3 if he plays his remaining multipliers right. By my reckoning system he'd be on 2240 with a x5 in hand, right up with Baltimore. Only question is with only 8 weeks left in the year and probably no more than 15 or 20 Pick Em fights left whether he timed his run too late.

Yeah, I'd say you probably left it a bit late for this year, but still feel free to jump in to get a feel for it.

But absolutely you're more than welcome for next year, in fact it'd be a pleasure to have you on board for the 2021 season, always on the lookout for new players.

All you'll need to do is make a pick on the first Pick Em thread of the new year and we'll get your name entered on the leaderboard. Word to the wise though if you're looking for the top spots you need to play nearly every time we get some fights up, miss even a few and it's hard to pull back the ground. Plenty of dudes just play for a laugh and the banter though, we try to keep it lighthearted and have a bit of fun with it.

If you read the first post of this thread it kinda lays out a bit of background and the ground rules, but basically each week or most weeks at least we'll put up a thread usually on Tues eve (UK time) with that weeks fights on.

Can be anywhere from about one to three or even four fights. For each fight you pick on you pick the winner, the method of victory (DEC, KO or DRAW) and detail (CLOSE or WIDE for decisions and EARLY, MID or LATE for stoppages)

So for instance this week I think it's just gonna be Haney vs Gamboa, so when the thread goes up you might post something Like:

ROCKIN: Haney KO, MID

Which would mean you were predcting Devin to win by KO in rounds 5 - 8. Picking the correct winner gets you 20 points, the correct Method gets you another 10 and the correct detail a further 10. You don't lose points for getting anything wrong so there's no reason not to pick on every fight.

In addition you start with a limited supply of multipliers to use on fights where you're particularly confident of your pick. In general you can use a x2 or x3 on any fight, but the x5 can only be used on the bookies underdog.

Tell you what, I'll put up the Haney vs Gamboa thread tomorrow and it should be stickied by the evening. Just have a look at how everyone else makes their picks and give it a try. Best of luck, man.
