Why is an X5 being removed on October 1?

The concept was to have one x5 for each half of the year... so one for 1st January to June 31st and 1 for July 1st to Dec 31st, although the reason why we decided to do it that way eludes me now, I think it was a kinda hangover from last year when we did a multiplier drop at the midpoint and the desire to have a kinda 'when it's gone it's gone' feel to the x5, like a 'hail Mary' which got kinda diluted when we decided to have two of 'em instead of one as originally proposed.

Anyway, the idea was that no-one would ever have more than 1 x5 'in the bank' at any given time. Unfortunately with COVID coming along and shutting the sport down for 3 months give or take, it became apparent that this would result in an unfair disadvantage in opportunity for those who hadn't spent their first x5 before COVID hit, so we rolled back the time limitation by 3 months to reflect the 3 months lost opportunity...

Ha ha convoluted I know, in hindsight it woulda been better just to say you got one or two or however x5s for the whole year, but given it was a new idea I wanted to see how it affected play balance and thought it best to kinda introduce it slowly.

Regardless, that's where we're at now. I think overall the x5 has gone down pretty well, but next year we'll abandon the 6 months split I think, and possibly up it to 3 x5s for the year.

If you really got strong feelings on it we can go to a player poll and maybe see about changing the rules to get rid of the time limit, I ain't seeing any massive reason not to except some of the players who played to the rules might consider it unfair to change 'em, although I doubt most will be fussed.

The rule about em being dropped at the mid point in the year is on the rules section of the OP I think... or at least it better be. The COVID ********* (damn that sounds kinda cool, like a movie or summin ) was discussed over the course of several posts between myself and HB3 and maybe one or two other posters, but I cant recall whether it was on the masterthread or one of the Pick Em threads or whether I actually got round to making an official announcement.

Lemme get back on my PC and I'll track down the discussion and see what was said and when, but given the standing rules say that one of your x5s should already have gone, I'm not sure there's much room for argument. Like I say though I'm more than happy to put it to a player poll and see if a majority is in favour of letting both x5s run on till year end.

Ok yeah the bit of discussion on it was around posts #194 to #208 on this thread, right about the start of June when we were just trying to get shit going again, and I think I might have mentioned it on one of the early fight threads as well, but I never updated the rules on the OP or made a full official announcement, so I gotta hold my hands up to that one.

How would you like to proceed,? I can just have a little chat with the rest of the CREW see what they think, or just put it to a player poll, or if you're happy to run with it as is (meaning you'll probably want to use one of your x5s in the next 4 weeks) I'll simply update the OP with the rule change.

No doubt, man, there's a reason anarchist movements rarely get very far historically and it's generally because we're still arguing over how to fairly distribute the boots whilst the other guys are already on the march.

But you're absolutely correct I do kinda leave the discussion hanging, although it resurfaces again at post #250 where I actually specify the outcome:

It does leave you a bit short of time however like you say for which I can only apologise, and the offer still stands for me to poll the players if you want.

Charlo card has some potential for upset I'd say, and I reckon it's only fair I seek out a few bouts where the bookies have em pretty well matched even if I have to look a bit further down the lists. We got stuff like Hefron vs Bently, Bolotniks vs Burton, Conroy vs Michel and Walsh vs Jazza ****ens all coming in pretty close per the bookies this month.

Anyways, best of luck going forward, you got a real good stockpile of multpliers there but you wanna be careful about timing your title run too late.

If i knew what the go was then surely everyone else must a got it.
Not sure how you missed it tbh if you were keeping upto date.

Per the rules on the OP a KO pick covers all types of stoppage including DQ, so we got a result of Herring KO Mid.
