TYSON Fury’s net worth went up more than £5million in his comeback year.
Fury was out of the ring for three years following highly-publicised mental health problems and his back-dated drugs ban.
But his return, highlighted by the draw with US superstar Deontay Wilder which will see a rematch for the WBC heavyweight belt in Las Vegas next month, brought a huge change in Fury’s financial position.
According to accounts filed at Companies House over the Christmas holidays and now made public, Fury, 31, had assets of £6.6m at the end of March.
That was an increase from his figure of £928,000 12 months earlier, with the fighter’s bank account showing a balance of £4.9m compared to just £56,000 in 2018.
Fury would have earned modestly from his first two comeback fights, the fourth-round stoppage of Albanian Sefer Seferi and then the points win over Italian Francesco Pianeta.
But the Brit earned an initial £2.3m from his share of the purse for the controversial draw at the Staples Centre in Los Angeles, in addition to a cut of the pay per view rights.
That result and prize fund catapulted Fury back into the big time and led to a five-fight contract with ESPN and Top Rank said to be worth £80m.
Promoter Bob Arum has revealed that Fury and Wilder will split the purse next month, with PPV fees expected to be in the region of £60m.
The Brit has already cashed in with his WWE fights understood to have earned a further £12m and the 2020 accounts are expected to show Fury now worth in excess of £100m.
