Meanwhile, Fres Oquendo's lawsuit against Charr continues to take forever.

The WBA world heavyweight title hasn't been defended in over two years, with nothing in sight.

Fres Oquendo hasn't fought in five and a half years and is still entitled to a WBA world heavyweight title fight.
I thought that was satisfied and oquendo stepped away.

Basically Charr pissed dirty and Fres canceled the fight, then Charr challenged his dirty piss and his B sample came up clean. Fres still refused to fight Charr and so the WBA obligations to Fres are over as Fres walked away from a fight with a champion they cleared of wrongdoing.

    Dan:

However, now that Oquendo has passed on the fight, it would seem as though that obligation is over and the WBA would order Charr to fight interim titlist Trevor Bryan (20-0, 14 KOs), 29, of Schenectady, New York.

I don't mean this argumentatively, what's changed since then?

Why is Fres still someone to consider?

Oquendo's position is that he's entitled to the purse from the canceled fight, which is still being held in escrow. Charr's promoter is insisting that the funds in escrow be credited as Oquendo's purse for the rescheduled fight.

Oquendo's position is that the dispute over the escrow funds are a separate matter and he should still be paid separately for the fight, while the legal battle over the escrow funds continues. Charr's position is that you accept those escrow funds as payment for a rescheduled fight, or there's no fight.

The WBA doesn't want to take sides, so Oquendo and Charr continue to battle it out in court while the WBA is allowing Charr to fight Bryan in the interim.

But Don King has the rights to the Charr vs Bryan fight, for his hypothetical Rumble in the Jungle 2, which keeps getting delayed due to the issues with the Congo.

Not sure what happened with Makabu. If he accepted some sort of deal behind King's back or what went on.

King should win this one if what I am reading is right.

Perhaps Makabu didn't understand what he signed up for and didn't know he was in violation of his legal contract.
