  • Comments Thread For: Vargas: Weight Will Be Bit More Of A Sacrifice For Me Than Garcia

It's been well over a year since Jessie Vargas has been required to come in at the true welterweight limit for a fight. The former two-division titlist has since briefly flirted with the idea of a move up the scale only to be properly enticed to drop back down in weight. Vargas is fully prepared to commit to life as a welterweight one more time as he prepares for his February 29 showdown versus former four-division titlist Mikey Garcia (39-1, 30KOs) at Ford Center at The Star in Frisco, Texas. It's the type of fight he sought when he first signed with Matchroom Boxing USA and DAZN, and one which he didn't hesitate to accept even if it means giving up a little bit more than expected through the holiday season-and in general.

It's weird to me how intriguing this fight is . I mean I think mikey should outbox him, but will he at welterweight ?? Iam not saying vargas is better than he is , but how good is mikey garcia going to be at welterweight , that is the question . I mean I have to go with logic and pick mikey via a decision in a fight where vargas proves him self a valid fighter once again . But where would that put mikey ?? Prolly at 140 where he belongs . Not sure what they are thinking keeping him at 47 I think his ego needs one win there .

Basically I think this fight is going to be closer than expected and once again prove 147 is too high mikey , iam not comparing garcia to broner , hes a different fighter , and hes disciplined . But he seems to be pulling a broner in the sense that his ego is gonna get in the way of his success

Although he has good fundamentals, and some power at 135, Mickey is overrated. And at 147, he'll look very average, if not horrible (as he did vs Spence).

When he loses the weight will be the first thing to come up. Tired of these fights with built in excuses for a loss.

He is nothing more than fodder used to lure Garcia to dazn the same way Hearn tried to use farmer to lure tank to dazn....like farmer, he is probably getting the much shorter money too. These fighters need to wake up to this sort of action and realise they are just bargaining tools
