Comments Thread For: Munguia Enjoying Distraction-Free Training Camp Ahead of Middleweight Debut

Jaime Munguia doesn't need to cling to a New Year's resolution to be better at what he already does fairly well. Of course, having to train through the holiday season is a welcome motivational factor towards achieving that goal. "Each year, I just try to get better and better," Munguia (34-0, 27KOs) told BoxingScene.com ahead of his next ring adventure, a January 11 middleweight showdown versus Ireland's Gary Spike' O'Sullivan. "This camp has been a good one, we are not doing anything other than training, properly dieting and allowing my body to rest and recover before doing it all again.

Props to GBP! Great debut opponent! Jeff Horn next? I could see it! I wouldn't watch it, but I could see it! Maybe Murata vs. Horn happens first, and Munguia challenges the winner? That would be interesting! Just keep Munguia away from Andrade in 2020! Maybe early 2021?

Having re-watched O'Sullivan starched by Lemieux, I'm considering a first-round knockout bet on Munguia.

Mungia vs GGG.... Make it happen dazn. If mungia can beat an old GGG he might stand a chance in the division, but if he can't then at least the hype train will b over. I don't see him beating charlo, Andrade, deryvechenko, GGG, or canelo. Murata would b a good fight for him tho and he might b able to grab a 2nd tier belt. Personally I see him as a future middleweight gate keeper.

munguia doesn't have that kind of power. he only looked like that vs sadam ali who was a natural welterweight with a chin worst than khan (and still couldn't even knock him out cold like lemieux did to o'sulivan)

Munguia will be a better fighter at MW. I'm looking forward to this one.

You may be right. Perhaps at middleweight - without weight depletion - he will be able to show more of that power? We'll see.

35 fights to get to middleweight and he still hasn't fought anyone.

He's going to be 167-0 by the time he actually fights someone at his natural weight (175)
