Does Meld. Taylor's dominant performance over JCC get overshadowed due to the ending?

Meldrick was pitching a shutout and was dominating in a display of pure boxing skills. Does the horrific robbery (and bout off ref by Don King) overshadow this virtuoso performance? It's a shame that his life and career went downhill fast after that fight which should have been his crowning moment.

yes taylor was robbed of his biggest victory but JCC literally beat him r.etarded. meldrick was never the same after that. but the way he was robbed crushed his soul while chavez crushed his body. the worst L in boxing history

The stoppage was assinine but only Richard Steele had the vantage point to determine if Taylor could have safely continued or not.

Taylor did get an opportunity for redemption but he was beaten soundly in the rematch.

I see that fight more as an example of the perserverance shown by Chavez despite being outclassed for almost the entire fight.
