But welcome on board, man, honestly a lot of that stuff is me just dotting 'i's and crossing 't's to cover my ass in case we get folk questioning the rules along the way, actually playing the game is about as strightforward as it gets.

Hell we could even say that it could only be placed on a bookies underdog... that would really make folk think about it.
Damn. Actually, yeah. I like the sound of that one.
What's your take on extending the number of DEC picks to 3 (SPLIT/V.CLOSE, WIDE and DOMINANT - or whatever we decide to call 'em)? It's an idea I been gently pushing since we took this over but I don't think we're likely to introduce it this years at such short notice. Maybe 2021 though if I can work on talking a few more people round to the idea.
Theoretically, couldn't a Split Dec also count as a Wide ? Unlikely, but depending on what the judges are smoking, could that scenario play out ?
118-110, 118-110, 113-115 <--- ? -- I'm not a mathematician and I can be a bit air-headed at times, but do you get what I mean ? Wouldn't that technically be more than a 12 point difference, which is Wide ? ...yet still a Split ?
IDK, something to consider perhaps or I'm way off.
Peace.

Oh yeah. And two further announcements that should be of interest to all players.
Firstly - and this is the biggie. BIGPOPPAPUMP has confirmed that a prize fund will be put up for the 2020 Pick Em.
The prizes will be the same as last year:
1st $300
2nd $150
3rd $50
Once again huge thanks to BPP and the 'Scene for the support they're showing for the Pick Em.
The second matter is one of communications - last year we experimented with varying degrees of success with some kinda way of getting out mass notifications to all the PICK EM players, some way of sending out reminders and canvassing opinion and so forth. We have toyed a little with the idea of a social group, and there is in a fact now a group dedicated to the PICK EM, problem is no-one seems to know what the hell we can do with it, so this year we're trying out a different solution.
We will be inviting all players to add the PICK EM CREW account to their friends list, as this is one way we can send out group notifications fairly easily and hopefully make sure we reduce the chances of players missing picks or having a say in any decisions which effect us all.Last edited by Citizen Koba; 01-07-2020, 01:25 PM.

If we were at some point in the future to try this route (I don't think it's practical to bring in such a significant change at this short notice) it also opens up the possibility of incorporating draw results into the sub 6 points pick. ie any player that that had picked a VERY CLOSE for either fighter would also score - possibly at reduced points - in the event of a drawn fight.

RE: DEC picks. I think 'close' and 'wide' is good enough for now, but I don't have strong opinions on it
