This is exactly what I said would happen and the reasoning for him taking on Spence and not Loma. Losing to Spence, everyone expected that. He moved up two weight classes (even though he had to cut weight to make the 147 limit) and losing to Spence allows him to keep his reputation intact. Had he fought and lost to Loma, that would have been harder to come back from because he lost to another LW and he could no longer claim to have been the top dog at 135.

          This has ben covered before.

Lomachenko said he wasn't going to fight Mikey next after having surgery.

And Mikey wasn't going to sit around waiting for him to get around to it someday.

Props to Mikey for taking on Spence, and in my book, there's no shame in losing to a better fighter. (HOW he lost, though, is a fair topic for debate, ie did he really try or was Spence just that good.)

I think he's showing a good attitude by moving forward. Sure, he could acknowledge his last fight was lackluster, but he doesn't really need to, does he? The important thing is that he moves on, challenges himself, and pushes to do better. That's the real marker of a champ, not the undefeated "0".

Most don't care honestly other than the Trolling Weirdos Online who probably never liked Mikey to begin with anyway

Who gives a F#CK! Time to move forward, hopefully he looks better vs Jessie Vargas which I don't see being a easy fight at 147. Vargas probably BIGGER that Spence Jr, Taller than Spence Jr for sure but we're talking about a guy who was ready to move to 154 for Munguia so he is a massive Welterweight as well. I give Mikey full credit if he can beat Vargas impressively!

What was Mikey’s hurry, he fights once per year? He dodged Loma. Spence was a perfect boogeyman to save face. Now he wants to pretend the loss doesn’t matter.

Mikey is a part time fighter, no reason to support this guy

Spence was a big money fight on PPV in front of a huge crowd at the Dallas Cowboys' stadium.

That beats sitting around waiting for Lomachenko and Arum to throw him a bone when they feel like it. Since they obviously were in no hurry to fight him.

He lost a match he was expected to lose, in his mind he's probably secured a moral victory for going the distance
