Lara always did the same thing. It seems all these Cuban fighters brought up in the amateur system are uncomfortable on the inside. An outside game is much more conducive to the amateurs. By the time they turn pro, they’re set in their ways.

...And their deteriorating reflexes only make it worse. Rigo was so offensive-minded that he didn't seem to care whether Ceja hit him or not. His defense was THAT bad in spots.

It’s interesting to note that Rigo never seemed hurt, despite being hit flush and his chinny reputation. A similar thing happened with Donaire. It would seem Rigo only gets rocked when he’s being especially defensive. Just an observation.

Rigo was set for a title fight this month but his opponent was pulled due to Visa issues which is really bad luck for Rigo since it would have been nice to see him grab a title. Hopefully they can reschedule soon.

Thanks. I checked a while ago to see if Rigo had anyone lined up. Didn’t see anything. He needs a stay-busy fight.

              Here it is....they will reschedule:

Guillermo Rigondeaux-Liborio Solis fight postponed due to visa issue

              Dec 17, 2019

              Dan Rafael
              ESPN Senior Writer

Lineal junior featherweight world champion Guillermo Rigondeaux, who planned to move down to the bantamweight division to fight for a title, will have to wait.

He was due to fight as a bantamweight for the first time in his career against former junior bantamweight world titlist Liborio Solis, with a vacant secondary 118-pound belt on the line on Saturday (Fox and Fox Deportes, 8 p.m. ET) in the Premier Boxing Champions co-feature at the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California.

However, the fight was postponed Tuesday. Tom Brown of TGB Promotions, which is promoting the card, said the bout was called off because Solis had yet to get a visa and would not be able to make it to the site in time.

Once Solis (30-5-1, 14 KOs), 37, a Venezuela native fighting out of Panama, receives his visa, Brown said the fight with Rigondeaux (19-1, 13 KOs), 39, a two-time Cuban Olympic gold medalist fighting out of Miami, will be rescheduled.

With Rigondeaux-Solis off, PBC announced that an eight-round lightweight fight between 2016 U.S. Olympian Karlos Balderas (9-0, 8 KOs), 23, of Santa Maria, California, and Rene Tellez Giron (13-1, 7 KOs), 20, of Mexico, would move up the card and serve as the opener for the televised tripleheader.

Junior middleweight world titlist Tony Harrison and former titleholder Jermell Charlo meet in a rematch of Harrison's title-winning decision victory in the main event in December 2018. Unbeaten heavyweight prospect Efe Ajagba, a 2016 Nigerian Olympian, will take on Iago Kiladze in the 10-round co-feature.

Thanks again. I now recall Rigo was scheduled to move down in weight. Forgot all about it since the fight never got off the ground. Yet I don’t remember seeing Solis listed as Rigo’s next opponent in recent months. Strange. I don’t like the fact Guillermo is being made to wait at such a late stage in his athletic life. Sucks.

I hear they are making a film about Rigo called "Split Decision". It is at the bottom which is the most recent information part of his page on Wikipedia. Hopefully Netflix will release it....it sounds inspiring about his life story.

Nice, man. Thanks yet again. You’re full of Rigo information today. Lol

Rigo will go down in my mind as one of the “could’ve beens “ in boxing history. (Same with Gamboa.) Guillermo started his career late and was relatively inactive, partly through his own fault. His is a talent that is not often seen. Most don’t appreciate it, and possibly never will.

Could've been what? He was P4P for many people and will go down as a HOFer.
