Agree with you on all counts.

And you’re right, many of these athletes spend too many quality years in the communist system.
And that’s the thing with La Cruz, his style would be incredible to watch if he countered with his slickness. Half the time he looks more interested in winning a break dance competition than a boxing match.

Agreed. He’s tremendously talented, but borders on clownish at times. Few fighters have ever been able to pull of a good Ali imitation.

as much of a clown as you can be without knowing the difference between "lose" and "loose"

Haha Figures. I’m all for skills and slickness, but that kind of foolishness won’t go over well in the pros. If you’re gonna play that game, you’ve gotta be virtually flawless. Some will love you and some will hate you, but both it works both camps if you do it right.

I love watching La Cruz. Was rooting for him this year watching AIBA world championships but Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan seem to be quite a force in the amateurs now. I wonder if La Cruz trying to get 1 more gold medal then come in hot to the pros in his 30's like Lomachenko and Rigondeaux.

I was wondering that, but have they even confirmed the Olympics for 2020 yet? So many young guys went pro last year when the Olympics was in jeopardy. Sadriddin Akhmedov (prospect fighting out of Montreal that I'm really big on) turned pro at 20 because he didn't want to waste time in the Ams and not go to the Olympics (he reminds me of a young GGG so would be cool to watch if he turns into one)
