Last Night Proved That You Don’t Need Mexicans To Sell A Fight

The narrative that you need mexican fighters to sell a fight has been ruthlessly destroyed and proven to be a myth by none other than Gervonta Davis.

Davis vs Gamboa in ATLANTA had a whopping 15k people in attendance and the tickets were very expensive.

I thought black fighters don’t sell? What happened to “Muh mexican fans” ???

Not to mention 10k in attendance for Wilder’s fight, 16k in attendance for Spence vs Porter

The business guys here say live gate and attendance don’t matter though.

So 14,000 happened to get in right before the main event ? I could swear that place was empty...

Ill admit it, I am surprised Davis is a very popular draw in the South East.

He is every bit the regional draw as Ramirez and Crawford are in Sacramento and Nebraska respectively.

I was there and the arena was practically sold out. A big portion of the crowd wait before the main event to come in or toward the end of the co main event.

The difference is that Jose Ramirez’s hometown fights have dirt cheep tickets, costing between $25 to $120. Gervonta’s ticket costs in Baltimore were $50-$350

If he fights Leo Santa Cruz in LA or Vegas, what do you think the ticket price range will be?

So a gay black fighter is popular in a gay black city? I'm shocked.
