Almost a year ago I started hearing people who aren't boxing fans talking about Tank. That's why I've been trying to talk you all this kid is a star. But keep listening to these old guys.

Im not saying he cant be a star, but to be one he needs fights. Theres no way he beats someone that doesnt just stand in front of him. It doesnt matter, Tank already said Mayweather was trying to sabotage him with stiff competition. Then he said Loma was to much for him at that point.

And none of them are generating the buzz or money that Tank is. You got a guy who can go into Atlanta, not a boxing market, and sell tickets priced higher than NY and LA. To deny his draw would be nonsensical. But to consider him a star on the level of Canelo is almost as bad.

I mean, have you considered these actions from another viewpoint? Maybe Haney, Garcia, Lomachenko, etc, just want to beat his ass because Davis is a belt holder? Some fighters still do want to get in the ring to prove that they are the best, not claim that status vicariously via bling and fast cars.

Also, that "on his terms" power play can be associated with a fighter whose team feels he needs shielding from threatening opponents.

Really, the only actions that would prove to me that Davis is a star is for the guy himself to fight other top dogs. So long as he continues fighting scrubs for his voluntaries while being coddled by TMT, he'll remain a spectacle, i.e. Broner 2.0, not a true star.

They actually has something else in common in my opinion. Both are overrated and not as good as many claim they are. I had Tank rated much higher and expected him to crush 38 year old washed up Gamboa in 3 rounds tops. He needed all 12 rounds to finish him off and his punch output was pathetic. I don't think he is much of a threat to Loma at 130 or 135. I rated him better than Haney or Lopez but now I think they both beat him unless he can do much better than he did last night.

The way TMT is managing tank is very similar to a young canelo as well. Canelo did test himself more. But they’re bringing him along with names passed their best and expect and hope for him to peak at about 27. Then they’ll fight a real name.
