  • Comments Thread For: Davis: Gamboa, Pedraza 'Hand In Hand' As Top Two Opponents

When Gervonta Davis demolished Jose Pedraza in January 2017, that technical-knockout victory clearly was the most significant win of his career. Nearly three years later, Davis hasn't fought an opponent as good or as accomplished as Pedraza. That'll change Saturday night, according to Davis, when he squares off against Yuriorkis Gamboa for a vacant version of the WBA lightweight title in Atlanta.

Kind of sad that a 38 year old Gamboa is going to be the second best opponent Tank has had.

He, who has had 22 professional fights, six of which being for a world title.

Davis did take Pedraza's 0 and stop him in the 7th round.

        Definitely his best win.

pedraza lost to edner cherry before fighting davis but sure officially. knowing what we know now about how tank is cherry picking they obviously saw no threat from a pedraza who coudln't even beat edner cherry.

Pedraza went on to take Lomachenko the distance. That's some cherry pick.

omg he took him the distance!!! and lost 10-2 while getting knocked down twice. and it was a cherry pick. the other champs were loma, corrales, and vargas hmmm yeah lets go with the guy who should have lost to edner cherry! i also said knowing what we know now because its obvious he just wanted to call himself a champ while fighting bums. if he had fought pedraza then loma, farmer, berchelt, corrales, machado, etc...no problem but he didnt

So was it a cherrypick when Lomachenko fought Pedraza too? Or just when Gervonta did it?

what other fighters did davis fight after fighting pedraza who was the weakest champ? last i checked loma is about to fight his 5th top 5 fighter in a row while davis fought 5 unranked bums in a row.

You were impressed by Crolla and Campbell? Different standards for different fighters I guess.
