tua would have knocked him out.
Anthony Joshua vs David Tua

Lennox Lewis was able to still punch through the target, while fighting off the back foot 'David Tua was beaten up in that fight'. Where as Joshua against Ruiz Junior fought a Olympic styled point scoring fight, where he was just hitting the target instead of hitting through the target.Aj is hardly Ali on his feet himself while I feel his movement looked greatly improved at a lighter weight though Ruiz wasn't doing anything he should have been - Feinting, jabbing his way in, moving his head. He was just plodding forward in straight lines waiting & waiting for AJ to hold his feet which never happened throwing the odd single shot here and there.
The odd times he got into positioning he didn't let his hands go, Tua sure would.
I don't want to take anything away from AJ he was excellent that night but I feel Ruiz severely flattered him.
I don't see Ruiz as a pressure fighter more a very limited low output counterpuncher that requires a static target. I feel anyone that so much as shows Ruiz a bit of movement will frustrate him badly.
Tua didn't have fast feet but he was very explosive for someone so bulky and closed distance quick enough to get to everyone he faced albeit a peak Lewis who put in a very disciplined and career best performance. He relied on closing distance more by bobbing & weaving & certainly had faster feet than Ruiz.
Even then Tua was landing and shots I'm not sure a still fairly raw & inexperienced AJ would take well. Tua hit so much harder than Ruiz its not even funny.
Lewis was a lot looser than AJ and had considerably better reflexes and upper body movement as well as clinch game. Ruiz when tied up didn't even attempt to fight his way out until late on out of frustration more than anything.
Lewis laid a blueprint but one that'd be very hard to replicate for anyone but Lewis and a very select few others. I'm not sure AJ could potshot him from the outside like he did Ruiz for me he'd had to show a lot more than he did even in the rematch & that is vs a Tua who was terrible on the night.
Anthony Joshua looked as if he hit as hard as Tyson Fury against Andy Ruiz Junior 'And it is because technically a super-heavyweight he struggles to utilize his assets' Wladimir Kiltschko would of stopped Ruiz Junior.
You could see Joshua thinking in there 'Move left, Move Right, Move Back, Throw a Jab etc' I could hear him thinking through the computer screen.
But Anthony Joshua certainly does put the work ethic in, and is humble enough to always learn 'It is his greatest strength, his determination to learn as a fighter'.Comment

Lennox earned his right to box Tua at range by planting him with some hard shots and then making him pay if he chose to shoot the gap. There’s a reason why Tua wasn’t keen to rush Lennox. Joshua would tense up and panic on the rare occasion Ruiz would actually close in and attempt to trade. Andy defeated himself by being too fat. Tua was defeated by a superior boxer/puncher. I think Tua knocks Joshua into next week.Comment

It was alarming as to how Ruiz Junior was shaking off Joshua's shots, since when has? Joshua hit somebody with a right hand, for them to stand there 'Shake their head, and be willing to trade straight away' Ruiz Junior is tough, but is he really that tough? Joshua for me struggles to apply his power when fighting a boxing type fight 'Struggled to tie Ruiz Junior up also, just stuck his arms out and walked towards him' It was not a technical master class.Lennox earned his right to box Tua at range by planting him with some hard shots and then making him pay if he chose to shoot the gap. All apart of Joshua's rebuilding process, he got the win 'So that is all he needed to do for now'.
I don't think the Joshua that fought Ruiz is the best Joshua we have seen, he is a damaged fighter and needs rebuilding 'Winning the rematch was stage 1 of the rebuilding process'.
David Tua beats the version of Anthony Joshua that fought Andy Ruiz Junior.Last edited by PRINCEKOOL; 12-28-2019, 07:48 AM.Comment
