Before Mayweather there was Pernell Whitaker. Before Whitaker there was Willie Pep. There's no before or after Ali...

            Ali more naturally gifted.

Gayweather got more gifts in the ring, Castillo, DelaHoya, Maidana, Pacquiao.

Ali, who did things no other man his size could do. And that's just inside the ring. Outside the ring, he was equally gifted and great.

Floyd also was very gifted, but there are levels.

Ali's resume is many leagues beyond what Floyd accomplished, or even attempted. I know lots of his opponents had world titles. But world titles were common by Floyd's time, with all the millions of alphabet belts. Ali's opponents were men in their prime, men who could kill you. Floyd's best opponents were old or small, or both.

Outside the ring, Ali stood for something great. Floyd stands for money, and nothing else.
