You can make an offer saying that we want the fight but the offer is such that you really don’t want the fight, and that’s what that shows. I mean they fought Joseph Parker and they gave Joseph Parker 33%...Now we all know that Deontay Wilder is worth substantially more than Joseph Parker because Deontay Wilder does bring the U.S. market to the table, which is substantial.
“So if they in fact offered him $12.5M — which I have a tough time to believe because I don’t believe even Eddie Hearn would stoop that low — that would be 12.5% [of a projected $100M fight]. That basically tells you that they don’t want the fight.”
this is where schaeffer projected the proposed wembley fight to do a revenue of $100m
look at the context, he's talking about the offer made by eddie hearn to wilder..
so yeh, responding to THAT in the context to say 'give me 50m' still means he was referring to the wembley fight and not a fight under the pbc banner.
also frank warren said 'the money was coming from bt sport'
which is another reason why they hid the details from aj, they wanted aj under their own networks/terms...and aj was under an exclusive rights deal with sky sports.
here's aj's deal with sky
Anthony Joshua has signed a new exclusive three-year promotional deal with Matchroom.
wilder's side also delayed the $15m offer because they(inc espinoza) knew the canelo-ggg was going to be announced, forcing aj-wilder to get moved to october...hence the venue change. Then used the 'no date no venue' excuse even when they knew 'sometime in october at the principality stadium in front of 80k fans'
then rejected the $100m offer.
curt henning wtf do you want to say?Comment
