Comments Thread For: Mikey Garcia: DAZN Deal Had To Be Structured In Way That Leaves Me Happy

Mikey Garcia didn't have a firm grasp on what fight was next when he was first courted by Eddie Hearn more than a year ago. What he did know was that it wasn't the right time to sign on with fledging over-the-top (OTT) media service DAZN.

He has a ONE fight deal with Matchroom, that isn't signing to anyone. He is very clever, he would pick up his biggest payday against a fighter who isn't as dangerous as Spence (Where he made less on PPV).

Mikey will always be one of my favorite fighters, because he knows how to handle his business both inside and outside the ring! That being said, I would have preferred Danny Garcia over Jessie Vargas.

Mikey showed me he had no integrity when he first pumped after every round of the Spence fight.. That did put a bad taste in my mouth... Was he crediting himself for surviving? Or was he trying to convince his fans or judges he was winning??? Wtf?

I don't mind a guy taking a risk and losing, but celebrating after every round that he clearly lost against Spence really soured me on this guy. "Yeah! I made it out of the round!"

Mikey taking on Spence for his move up to 147 was not only brash but also ignorant. Spence has proven to be one of the best in the division and after the Porter fight proved he'll stand a chance at winning against anybody in the division. Mikey should've started with the likes of Vargas to get his feet wet. We'll soon see if that's even a good idea.

Haymon was the lead negotiator. He always take care of the fighters. 💯🥊

Mikey calls this a good fight, not even close. He signed this one deal fight so that he could go into hiding against the real dogs in that division. Why not take on Thurman, porter? He probably wanted a Zab Judah.

Mickey's best win is Lipinets.. at super light. Don't even think he would beat him again at welter.

Now I'm not saying Mickey sucks, but... maybe his primadonna attitude isn't quite justified. Specially after his performance against Spence...

The Spence defeat took a lot of shine off Mikey.

I hope the money was worth it. He needs to rebuild his reputation again.
