Oscar or Trinidad or Leonard or Duran could step in the ring tomorrow with any of the top welterweights and say that the opponent has nothing they haven't seen before - and they would be 100% correct, but executing on that is another thing. Gamboa may be right - but the downside is that at 38 Gamboa cannot pull the trigger the same way he did 10 years ago and his reflexes may not allow him to avoid being hit with the fast, hard punches anymore, let alone those from Davis. He may see things he has seen before in the ring, but capitalizing on them and those mistakes that every fighter has, at his age, may not happen. He may land some nice shots early, but it is hard to see him not fading or being caught.

Yuri’s been done for a while. I’d be willing to bet Davis scores the KO. Gamboa was something back in his prime, but that was a while back.

If this was the Gamboa that fought the much bigger Crawford, he would have a hell of a shot to win. Still, I always root for the older guy against the unbeaten fighter for sentimental reasons and I hope Gamboa can give a good showing and who knows, maybe pull off the upset, though hard to imagine.

I understand. Frankly, I think the Gamboa that put on that show versus Crawford would’ve stomped Tank. But, like you say, who knows?

Uhhh...no version of Gamboa stomps Tank. Davis has enough speed, power and boxing ability to give prime Gamboa issues
