Comments Thread For: Danny Garcia: If Errol Spence Is Better, Then We'll Fight

Danny Garcia was as encouraged as anyone to learn Errol Spence Jr. plans to go straight to a tough fight in 2020. Spence mentioned Garcia and Manny Pacquiao as the two opponents he most wants to face in his first fight after an October 10 car accident caused facial lacerations and dental damage to the star southpaw. The unbeaten IBF/WBC welterweight champion returned to the gym earlier this month and told FOX's Brian Kenny during a live interview Saturday night that he has been cleared medically to resume all boxing training.

Why are they trying to push this garbage fight? Nobody asked for this match up at all. Garcia keeps getting title shots despite not being a big name or doing anything to warrant it. He's fighting Redkach for crying out loud. His best win at welterweight was a past it Robert Guerrero. He's rivaling Crawford's welterweight resume except without the title

It's the WBC! They have DSG ranked #1, so Spence has to fight him!

I’m pretty sure a unification would get priority if they wanted to fight.

The PBC basically ranked Garcia not the WBC. He hasn’t beaten anyone to be ranked by the WBC as a mandatory. But whatever....

If Pacquiao says yes, we'll see a unification! I don't care what Spence says, he's not fighting Crawford, coming off that car crash!

I don’t think he should fight Crawford after that. Just pointing out that mandatories are not a good argument to block bigger fights.

Same could be said for IBF #1 Kudratillo Abduqaxorov! How is he IBF #1 with 17 fights and only 9 KO's, but my man Jaroon "Boots" Ennis is 24-0 with 22 KOs, and he's IBF # 15, AND UNRANKED BY THE WBC!

If Pacquiao wants it, he'll get it! If not, then it will be WBC #1 Danny Garcia. or the winner of this proposed fight:

Lipinets-Abdukakhorov Title Fight In Discussion For Feb. 22

BoxingScene.com has learned that plans are in place for a welterweight showdown between top-rated contenders Sergey Lipinets and Kudratillo Abdukakhorov. The bout carries dual significance, though both angles factoring heavily into when such a pairing can be confirmed.

According to sources, the fight is being eyed for a place on the undercard of the rumored Feb. 22 rematch between unbeaten heavyweights Deontay Wilder (41-0-1, 40KOs) and Tyson Fury (29-0-1, 20KOs). A full announcement on the heavyweight title fight is entirely dependent upon Alabama’s Wilder prevailing in another rematch, as he faces Miami-based Cuban southpaw Luis Ortiz (31-1, 26KOs; 2NCs) this weekend in Las Vegas, Nevada, which will serve as the likely destination for Wilder-Fury II.

With the welterweight scene continuing to take shape for the first part of 2020, one bout currently in advanced talks remains contingent on several moving parts. BoxingScene.com has learned that plans are in place for a welterweight showdown between top-rated contenders Sergey Lipinets and Kudratillo Abdukakhorov.
