I have round 2 to Charlo for kd, but he was losing the round up to that point.

Agreed, on that note, when the guy who goes down otherwise does the much better work, isn't that actually grounds for 10 9 for the guy who scored the KD rather than 10 8? The automatic 10 8 thing seems to have been adopted more out of laziness/simplicity
