Ruiz obese but criticised for losing weight?

Explain how Ruiz was criticized for losing too much weight by high profile trainers etc but came in bigger than ever. Did he ever lose weight? What was that all about last summer fall?

His sparring partner Hunter claims Ruiz gained all the weight during the last two weeks before the fight, when he went to Saudi Arabia. He must have been eating like an absolute pig to gain 20lbs in two weeks though.

It started with 1 photo that looked like he had lost a bit of weight. Who knows if that photo was even real or it could've just been taken at the perfect angle. Either way he obviously didn't train and spent all his time partying, while claiming he wouldn't in every interview.

While I feel like he would give AJ a real fight if he trained properly, I don't think he deserves another shot after defrauding the public like that. He is an absolute disgrace and should not be handed another pay day unless he proves himself with multiple fights and stays in shape.

People were worried he was going to come in too light and would lose some power and chin. How the h@ll can that happen in 2 weeks and why? That's what confused me. If he came in lighter he would have cut off the ring, and would have landed more or could have landed a bigger shot after tagging Joshua. Still not getting why he would gain the weight after losing it

Agreed. He blew an even bigger opportunity and even bigger opportunity afterward. Extremely disappointing. Now he will be ducked and rightfully so. He is dangerous.

Boxing is one of the only sports in which pseudoscience reigns supreme. There is no other athlete other than a sumo wrestler that would benefit from more fat on their body. Everyone that said that Ruiz would be weaker with less fat on his body is an idiot. Less fat means less weight to carry around the ring for 12 rounds. If he would have came in at 250,he could have still been chunky, but it would have been the difference of him trying to box with a small child on his shoulders. Fat doesn't make you absorb a hit to the chin better, nor does it provide any benefits other than keeping you warm during the winter. Ruiz lost the fight long before that night in the desert, and he sunk himself deeper with every plate he scarfed down.

He didn’t lose any weight. He ended up heavier than in the first fight.

              ZERO discipline.

If you lose weight too quickly you will lose muscle with fat. The trainers/boxers saying it was a bad idea were reacting to the false news that he had lost a lot of weight.

Most of the weight he put on was water and falafel weight he added over in Saudi Arabia. It isn't the same as maintaining a good weight throughout camp. The excuse maker himself says he partied too much and ate everything in sight before the fight.

He really thought he had it in the bag, and that Joshua wasn't capable of rising to the occasion.

Even Ruiz claimed there was just one pic of him sitting on the apron in a black shirt that everyone said he lost weight. He said he had not at all. People just jumped on it because they needed to fill airtime. People also said all sorts of dramatic things about AJs physique, saying he was skinny, sickly, clearly off the PEDS, But he was only ten pounds lighter and looked in the same condition as ever. We need in ring weights to be mandatory so we can bypass all the crud we hear and are told. No way Ruiz lost weight from 267lbs but then put so much on in the last two weeks that he ended up coming in much heavier on top of that. His last week was travel to Saudi also, no way all his comfort foods were there. It was all unsubstantiated hype to give people something to talk about. Any heavyweight saying they came in heavier on purpose is just an old boxing joke. “In case I get leaned on”. Buster Douglas said the same thing vs Holyfield. He just fought his best fight but then decided sum extra weight was needed to fight a much smaller man in Evander? U gotta sell the fight I get it. But c’mon.
