  • Comments Thread For: Lawrence Okolie Wants Krzysztof Glowacki Title Clash in U.S.

Undefeated rising cruiserweight contender Lawrence Okolie is very pumped to be in line for a world title shot. Okolie is slated to face veteran Krzysztof Glowacki for the vacant WBO world title. The British boxer expects a date and venue to be announced shortly - but prefers to have the contest take place in the United States.

Well Joshua is way less boring than say Wilder and Fury who landed way less shots in there snooze fest so not a high bar to aim for but Okolie is very, very boring, like a Fury fight without the skill to admire.

He should fight Breidis instead. Great fight!

Put it in Chicago, would draw a great crowed mostly because of Glowacki

I'm not sure if you've ever seen Okolie fight but it's some of the ugliest boxing you'll see. He's a tall guy and he always seems to be wrestling and grabbing with his opponent as most of the punches get smothered. When he's not wrestling his opponent, he's usually posturing or flicking out a jab on occaision. He usually gets off a few hard shots at some point which end up stopping his opponent and saving the audience from any more misery.

I'm not sure if he's all to blame for it but since it always seems to happen in his fights, he's gotta be part of the problem.

As to your comment on AJ, I've seen alot of people on these boards make comments like that and they are silly and bitter. I'm not a fan of his and usually find myself rooting for whomever his opponent is....but AJ has been in some very good fights: Whyte, Klitschko, Takam, Povetkin and Ruiz I to name a few (ironically I was pulling for his opponent in all of these except Povetkin).

He absolutely needed to beat Ruiz to remain relevant and he got the job done. I think Ruiz will always be a dangerous opponent for him and he found the best route to victory. Not every fight is going to be scintillating, just watch how Wilder fought Stiverne in their first fight. It actually looked alot like AJ/Ruiz II.

Are you kidding? Did you even see Okolie's last fight? I'll admit, the Ruiz Joshua rematch lacked excitement but it was still fight of the year compared to Okolie's last fight. He is the new clinch king. He should've been disqualified. It still baffles me how the ref didn't even take a point.
The only reason Okolie wants to fight Glowacki in the US is because he's hoping he gets a horrible old ref like Robert Byrd who screwed over Glowacki against Breidis with his inability to determine a foul or even break the fighters when the bell rings at the end of the round.

Okolie would be a horrible champion to watch, his style is so off putting and he smothers his work most of the time. He has good knockout power at least.
