Comments Thread For: Whyte Expects Wilder To Avoid Mandatory, Become Franchise

Heavyweight contender Dillian Whyte is not expecting to secure a mandatory crack at WBC world champion Deontay Wilder. He believes Wilder will request the WBC's controversial status of "franchise champion." Earlier this year, the WBC crowned their first franchise champion in Canelo Alvarez, and more recently crowned Vasiliy Lomachenko as a franchise champion.

This is why people don't like Whyte. He can make for fun fights but we all know Wilder beats him. Povetkin would beat him. Hunter would beat him.

      I could keep going.......

Only Hearn employees (aka the British sports press) believe this guy is clean. UKAD has about as good a reputation on corruption as Venezuela. The checks may be cashed and the the crooks may approve him, but we know. Cheater just like Canelo. But - would love to see wilder put him in a body cast IF he beats the real fighters like fellow UK cheat Fury

Wilder has Ortiz’s Stiverne’d and Breazeale’d dudes. Cant help but think he’s gonna try to put Whyte down for good.

Not too fond of Whyte since he got caught cheating. Wish him well though.

Wilder won't fight him unless he's 40 years old and higher.

PBC has more pull with the WBC than anybody.

Yet PBC hasn't requested for any of their fighters to vacate their title in favor of the meaningless franchise honor.

DAZN has. ESPN has. But not PBC.

Wilder is on record clearly stating he would refuse to vacate his world title and has no interest in the honorary franchise title.
