Comments Thread For: Team Usyk Demand WBO Enforce Mandatory Joshua Title Shot

With the belts now back in Anthony Joshua's possession following his win in the ring, comes the fights beyond the ropes to get next in line for the two-time heavyweight titlist. England's Joshua (23-1, 21KOs) was able to avenge the lone loss of his pro career in style, cleanly outboxing California's Andy Ruiz (33-2, 22KOs) over 12 rounds last weekend in Diriyah, Saudi Arabia. The 2012 Olympic Gold medalist and box office giant joins former World champions Floyd Patterson, Muhammad Ali and Lennox Lewis as the only heavyweights ever to reclaim their prize in a straightaway rematch after losing the crown.

It's clear that Joshua is going to fight Pulev in order to take care of that mandatory. He'll be stripped of the other belt that has a mandatory due, but then Usyk will fight someone else for the vacant belt, and then Joshua and Usyk can have a big unification fight on DAZN. I'm fine with this plan.

As much as I like Usyk they can't do anything ftm except fight Chisira or Hunter then fight Joshua.

What’s clear is the IBF is all the way into Hearn’s pocket and he arranged this whole thing to keep Joshua from having to get matched seriously against another non match-room fighter.

The goal will be to make Joshua look the goods against a bum and start building for an Usyk fight when he also looked sub par against a HW bum.

So weak... this is why Andy is such a let down. Boxing is back in a UK hostage situation. But no matter we know who 1 and 2 are and it isn’t AJ.

Joshua will fight Pulev to keep the IBF. If he was stripped, Pulev would fight Kownacki for the title and theres no way Hearn would allow a title to change hands to Arum or Haymon.

Joshua will let go of the WBO. Usyk will fight Whyte for that title and both are Eddie Hearn fighters.

Assuming Joshua beats Pulev, Hearn then has another heavyweight title unification. It would either be a UK super fight in Joshua-Whyte 2... or Joshua-Usyk, which would be bigger than originally thought because in this scenario Usyk beat a British hero in Dillian Whyte.

When all is said and done, the business / politics of boxing just flat out sucks.
Cant keep up with all this nonsense.

Damn it AJ... you're going to get embarrassed again.

Don't let Usyk spoil the Undisputed Championship.

Challenge the winner of Wilder vs. Fury!
