Glen Johnson will be upset by Clinton Woods

September 2nd, in Bolton, England, Glen Johnson and Clinton Woods will meet for the 3rd time. Both of their fights were close from all I hear, and having seen both guys' previous fights as well as the scorecard for the fight, I assume there was no domination of Woods by Glen.

Woods recently has been on a bit of a roll, and I think he has taken his game to a new level thanks in part to his nutrionist...an added help that he didn't have before.

Woods knows this is the fight of his life, and Glen has faded. Vs Hall, Glen had a more competitive fight than he should have with someone who is as far gone as Richard Hall is. Woods will win 2-3 more rounds than last time, showing more freshness and determination than ever.

And then he will try to avenge his TKO loss to Roy Jones, derailing Roy's plans to rematch Johnson. Roy said in a recent interview he is pretty set on fighting Glen. Too bad it'll never happen.

Who wants to bet on Johnson-Woods? And can someone PM me one or both of their fights. I'll hit you with the blue stuff and points.

As much need as there is for Chico and Casamayor to fight again I would say. This fight will make a clear number one in the divison in my opinion in the wake of the Tarver-Hopkins fallout.

I agree with your take on the fight, but for some reason I think Johnson will win. Maybe its because I want him to win because I think he deserves a big payday at the end of his career for all of the BS he had to put up with. He won the first fight with Woods IMO.

How did you see the fight? They didn't show it on HBO or Showtime, which is why I'm trying to get someone to upload it for me.

Are you asking me how I saw the first Woods-Johnson fight? Because I was in London and it was televised there. Unfortunately I don't have a copy...sorry.

I agree with this, there are several factors in Woods's favour (both fights were competitive, the first there was a potential KD of Johnson late on that ISTR was called as a slip... Johnson got fatigued against Woods late both times as Woods has the height and reach to keep him off. The second fight Woods made a tactical error and got a broken rib, but still carried on).

The main one perhaps being that Woods has improved since, he was green at the time, and they found he had an iron deficiency that S_L alluded to. His strength, workrate and accuracy have improved, something the Mon may not be aware of.

But another important factor is which Mon will be coming to the ring. Clinton Woods previously faced a Mon so upset after being robbed for years that he burst into tears when the first fight was called a draw. ("Why'd dey always do it to me for, mon?" he said). A Johnson that was so frustrated at what he saw as persecution that he was relentless in the (still relatively competitive) second bout, went on to lay out Roy Jones and take the title of The Man in a bout with Antonio Tarver. (though I had Tarver winning, but that's beside the point...)

The Mon had things to prove then. He has less to prove now. I have Clinton shading this on points, possibly even producing a shock late stoppage.

Oh, btw, Clinton on the second bout:

"He didn't box any different to the first time, I just boxed crap".

He also said that Roy Jones hit harder to the head, the Mon hit harder to the body.
