I saw an interview of Danny Garcia's dad a few weeks before the Canelo fight. He was questioning why Canelo would fight Kovalev, saying he could get hurt and asking if he's gonna have a life after the fight.
When the interviewer told him it was about chasing greatness, leaving a legacy, he answered "But why?!". That tells you all you need to know about Danny Garcia's mentality. The PBC encourages this behavior it seems.
Very good post!!!
I think boxing in general encourages this not just PBC. Messed up business model and now boxers understand that it is.
Fighters basically have to choose between legacy and making a good living that will allow them to take care of loved ones, pay medical bills and not work till the age of 70+.
Given the choice between cherry picking and staying in the mix for bigger paydays and risking it all for legacy and promoters using any setback to underpay.... most
of us would go for the $$. Now that Floyd created game plan to come out on top financially, most are using a variation of that plan including promoters.
Another crap Pbc showtime main event mismatch...does nothing for Garcia legacy/career! Just like past Sat showtime crap main event Charlo/Hogan....Showtime should demand credible opponents for headlining Pbc stars.
Not a bad opponent for a stay busy fight. Redbach has been looking solid & is coming off a career defining win over Devon even if Devon is shot. And Danny isn't nor should he be fighting too risky of an opponent with a Spence fight being likely for the summer.
