  • I just wish Charlo could fight GGG. Is that too much to ask?

      • This does very little to enhance PBC commodity Charlo’s reputation as a top tier world champion.
I would compare him with his promotional stablemate Wilder-but at least Wilder has rolled the dice lately (to an extent) in fighting both Fury and Ortiz again.
But these are still fights with an element of the ‘cherry-picking’ psychology around them.
When Wilder first challenged Fury he was two woeful tune up fights into a comeback where he was far from his best.
Ortiz is a dangerous enough boxer puncher, but at 40 and with high blood pressure he hardly qualifies as a 50/50 threat.
It’s easy to build up an impressive 41-0-1(39) record when 38 of those opponents were club fighters, and Wilder knows it.
Back to Charlo. Where’s his integrity? Where’s his sense of proving to the critics he’s the real deal?
Well, with PBC fighters, that doesn’t matter.
The bottom line is Al Haymon requires you to raise your capital as a dollar value so he can either sell your contract at a profit, or if you excel within his mediocre expectations, like getting a belt via an administrative gesture, then a ‘world champion’ will see Al continue to feed you the lowest quality of competition, all the while with the fighter reading the tired script about ‘How he intends to clean out the division and seek out the best fights available.’
        RUBBISH.
Haymon’s business only model is eroding the value of meaningful fights, making it acceptable to be merely content with one of the four or five major belts and then simply sit back and defend it once or twice a year against lowly ranked bums.

        • It seems it certainly is. I expect Charlo will Ecke out a living defending a belt he didn’t even win in the ring by fighting the easiest opposition until fighters like GGG, Andrade, Derevyanchenko, Canelo start to show the apparent cracks of age and/or wear and tear,
Then the calculated risk might happen but so far very few PBC fighters appear to be in the sport to achieve glory and do their best - actually what they have displayed is the most cynical, negative, and opportunistic way of organising fights - when, you do a little research into Al Haymon the business man makes sense.
He has zero interest in advancing the sport, more interested in commodifying fighters and extracting the most value from the smallest effort and investment.
          Worse than Don King.
At least King attempted time stage exciting cards whilst ripping people off.
Haymon operates like a corporate robot.

you mean like ggg did his whole career.

Until fighters like ggg, andrade, derevyanchenko, canelo start to show the apparent cracks of age and/or wear and tear,

canelo has been in the same division with the same promoters charlo has been the mandatory for both ggg and canelo at times and neither guy or their promoter was interested but your blaming charlo and al haymon?? Lol i wonder why

Don king actually put on better fight cards than most promoters throughout his career until he was basically marginalized by the sport for probably the same reasons by the same people like you who find reasons to only blame certain people for the same thing others are doing but giving passes to a certain kind of promoter/fighter which is bull shhit remember bob arum was a lawyer
at least king attempted time stage exciting cards whilst ripping people off.
Because a few people said don ripped them off more people said bob arum ripped them off but for some reason not too much backlash lol i wonder why

Why not fight/never fight Sergiy who is with the same promoter though...obviously Charlo has been managed with kid gloves up to this point.

                      Great comparison.
