AJ fought the right fight. No one should be knocked for that. Shame Andy let himself down in the gym. Would have been nice to see this version of AJ vs a sharper, quicker Ruiz.

Shame Ruiz ate himself out of a title, just no discipline. My guess with his big winnings is that he won’t be boxing past the next year or two max. He is a good example of the fighter who can’t get out of bed of silk sheets to train......and eat rightComment

I agree with that. Unfortunately for AJ the safe route might've been his only way to victory.. I wish he would've tried to go for the KO tho. It helps legacy but it doesnt exactly put the division on notice with a win like this.Comment

He did try a couple times but everytime he hurt Ruiz with a big punch and went in to finish Ruiz would start swinging like a mad man. He looks like a dangerous guy to knock out if you don't do it with the first punch.Comment

I don't have an issue with Joshua fighting safe like this. And I'll go out on a limb and say that it wouldn't have mattered WHAT version of Ruiz showed up... Anthony would've beaten him. And actually, I'm pleased Ruiz lost because now we can get back into the reality that fat fighters rarely if ever win consistently. It was a bad look having food giant with goofy hat being in the title throne.Comment

IMO Joshua boxed beautifully. If you’re on these forums you must like the sport. If you like the sport than today’s match was masterful. Ruiz, just like first fight needs to counter and catch you with a winging punch. Mostly arms too. Joshua hurt him a few time but was smart not to engage further. As that’s when one of those looping punches catches him. I’m not a big Joshua fan but I know a professional when I see one. Only one person took this fight seriously. Wilder would destroy Ruiz as when he hits hardest it’s right down the middle. Ruiz has no defense for that.
Props to AJ. A slightly more athletic Klitschko, which is not a terrible thing to be. Guy dominated the division for a long time.Comment
