Don’t want to make this too complicated but I feel the mistake DAZN made was they were adamant about making an immediate splash with Canelo and GGG (without somehow guaranteeing the trilogy fight) but hypothetically let’s say instead of signing GGG they took that $ and spent it on a stable of A and B level fighters that weren’t stars yet. Maybe buy up more top amateurs.
I don’t know I’m not even gonna pretend that I know how it works but it just seems like unless they get lucky like with this Joshua Ruiz fight that they are having one hell of a time putting on big fights that are even 70-30 type fights. 95% time it’s one known fighter fighting an overmatched opponent ggg Steve rolls for example.
I don’t want to drag this out but what do you guys think in the future is DAZN better off going for a stable of fighters that are less known rather then spending hundreds of millions on just one?
I suppose that’s kind of the pbc model but at the end of the day we get a lot more competitive fights made with pbc then ESPN or Dazn
