Comments Thread For: Ruiz: I'll Weigh In The Same I Did For First Joshua Fight

A lot has been made this week about a seemingly slimmer Anthony Joshua as the former heavyweight champion completes preparation for his rematch against Andy Ruiz Jr. The 6-feet-6 Joshua weighed in at 247 pounds for his stunning technical-knockout loss to Ruiz on June 1 at New York's famed Madison Square Garden. He did seem to have lost weight a couple of months ago, but a lot of people were telling him to keep the weight on (e.g. Roach, Tyson) so maybe he stopped losing.

Or maybe he's just one of those fat people who finds it impossible to control his eating for an extended period of time.

            Good to see you lad

Think your boy has it this time or Ruiz gets him again?

Nothing against Joshua, class act and a good fighter but I think Ruiz is just all wrong.

            We will see

Hello Beercules. Agree with you, I think Joshua probably has a 35% chance of winning. Ruiz all wrong, as you say. It would be some comeback if he could win convincingly, but I doubt it happens.

I like Andy. The guy is a rebel, does what he wants to do. Coming in fat again is giving a big middle finger to all the critics who told him he doesn't look like a proper champion.

I wonder why he chose to slim down.

Maybe he felt too stiff? Great athlete but that doesn't always equate in HW boxing, then again, it's HW boxing anything can happen.
