Should have put James Toney vs. Hasim Rahman on PPV. If the fight is exciting as Lamon Brewster vs. Serguei Lyakhovich then I would take back what I said about it.

No way this should be on ppv.Of course they also put Vitali Klitschko vs. Danny Williams on ppv and that looked like a mismatch on paper.Sometimes HBO just makes dumb moves and this is one.Comment

Originally posted by BIGPOPPAPUMPMy, how far the heavyweight division has fallen. Of course this is not news to followers of the sport but even diehard fans have got to be scratching their heads over the August 12th rematch between current WBC belt holder Hasim Rahman and challenger Oleg Maskaev. It’s not so much the match up itself, as questionable as it is, but the fact that HBO and promoter Bob Arum are asking boxing fans to shell out $49.95 for a fight that isn’t even worthy of HBO’s After Dark program.
This is the network whose talking heads (Larry Merchant and Jim Lampley) constantly deride sanctioning bodies, preferring to recognize Ring Magazine’s title belt holder as the king of the division. So why is this bout on pay per view? The only answer is, it’s a “championship” fight.
Are you kidding me? [details]
It is overpriced, should be about 20$, but I will still buy the PPV.Comment

I am completely thrilled they put this fight on PPV. I dont want to watch it, have no intentions of watching it and I dont have to waste my Saturday night like I would if it was on regular HBO.
I applaud them for putting the crappy fights on ppv.I know it sounds a bit weird, but still...
Also Maskaev vs Rahman could be a pretty decent fight, Maskaev is an agressive heavyweight and we could see some heavy blows being thrown....
This fight belongs on a Don King heavyweight cards since those are known for crap.Comment
