Anything strange about AJ's allusions to Divine interference in his fights

It's just a theme I keep seeing in his interviews. I know AJ is a spiritual guy....just curious what you guys think about having the mentality that
the hand of God is a wavering and, ultimately, deciding variable at play within a sporting competition...

For reference, I just watched the following interview before making this thread (@1:50):

This is not too peculiar in itself, but what I find weird is that he seems to consistently talks about the outcome of the fight in spiritual terms rather than tactically...

He's said Ruiz's first knockdown punch came from the gods...as if it wasn't caused by him recklessly giving up his height and throwing wild bombs in close quarters.....

It's like he doesn't think actual tactics have anything to do with the outcome of the fight....just chance and Divine will...

Maybe he doesn't want to divulge his adjustments, but I get the sense that he isn't really too keen on doing anything different.....just sparring hard and praying

I won't criticize that, because I'm a religious guy myself...but just find it interesting

I don't think God had anything to do with his loss and if he believes that I think he is being foolish. Ruiz beat him without outside help. He should realize that and try to do better this Saturday.

Just once I would like a losing fighter to say that God was against them in the fight.

I have to agree. I respect religion and spirituality immensely, but if AJ isn't accepting the fact that he needs to make some real tactical adjustments I think he's got a deeper mental issue going on

He sure did say if God calls it he will win. I guess he believes that. I don't believe God determined the winner of boxing matches. The two fighters determine that. AJ needs to look to himself to win with his own skills and not count on God's help because I don't believe it is coming I am sure Ruiz is also praying he wins this fight and it comes down to who fights the better fight on the night.
