TOP RANK WANTED TERENCE CRAWFORD-DANNY GARCIA PAY-PER-VIEW FIGHT IN MARCH 2019

Terence Crawford is headed toward a matchup with Luis Collazo on March 23 at New York’s Madison Square Garden; it’s another routine title defense for “Bud,” an elite fighter who’s yet to share the ring with another such talent.

Collazo wasn’t Top Rank’s first choice, though. Before Top Rank president Todd duBoef began negotiating a deal with Collazo manager Keith Connolly, the promotional company made overtures to a different fighter advised by Al Haymon.

Both duBoef and Top Rank vice president Carl Moretti recounted to The Ring on Tuesday the details of an offer delivered to Angel Garcia for his son, Danny Garcia, to meet Crawford (34-0, 25 knockouts) in a welterweight title fight on that same date.

The offer, presented by Moretti during a phone call with Angel: $3 million guaranteed plus upside of the pay-per-view revenue. The plan was for Crawford-Garcia to headline Top Rank’s first PPV show on ESPN. Of course, Garcia is aligned with PBC, meaning he fights exclusively on Showtime/FOX.

The only ones who will accept the challenge will be Lipinets, and maybe Porter. That's it. Others will run for cover..

          Yeah Right

How can you claim you are the best in a division, when you are new to it and haven't faught ANYONE credible. And on top of that, you you aren't even staying active. Sitting around waiting for Spence, doesn't get you anywhere. Bruh take a fight with Porter, I know he be game. And it would be good visibility win or lose.

“Danny was sitting there and we felt you know what? It’s a really terrific fight,” duBoef told The Ring. “We didn’t want to value the loss. (Garcia’s September loss to Porter) was an entertaining fight; close fight. Garcia has marketing value as it relates to Crawford.”

duBoef and Moretti say the offer was made directly to Angel rather than Al Haymon to ensure the fighter received information about the opportunity. Top Rank chairman and Haymon haven’t done business with each other in years, so they claim there was fear Haymon wouldn’t present such an offer to his fighter.

“I don’t know who to present to with these guys,” duBoef argued. “They say they’re the promoter, they’re not the promoters. They say they’re the agents, they’re not the agents.”

If Angel told Moretti they wanted to discuss the fight further, duBoef says, at that point Top Rank would have reached out to Haymon to try and hammer out the deal. “I just want to make sure these guys get the offer,” he said.

“They know who represents these guys. We’re a management company, we’ve always been a management company,” Tim Smith, vice president of communications for PBC, told The Ring. “Phone numbers haven’t changed.”

They talked that BS about they don't know who to call, but it is what it is! Then they also gave Amir Khan a better offer, even though Danny KO'd Khan, and Khan has never been a WW Champion! Then they want to know why they can't get fights for Bud!
Khan was in negotiations with the Brook fight during that time and they had to offer Khan higher offer to entice him to accept the Crawford challenge. Even 5M was not even as big as what Khan would have possibly gotten for the Brook fight (according to reports).

Danny only averages like what? 1M? no ppv? That 4M plus ppv share is good enough. It was a career high payday for him. He had no leverage. And not even a word or a counter offer from them? It was really looking like Crawford was not in their best interest even with an offer that good. Taking on Granados for 1M only says one thing - it’s not about the reward they care, it’s the risk they’re worried more. They treat Crawford like a bad news

              Soooo ......... Is this it?

All we're going to get is an outburst from Bud every three months and then back to the wishing well?!?!?!?!?

Break that contract, go across the street and fight!!!!
If that's really what you want to do......

                a) Khan was trash from jump! Brook was part of the equation Khan used to get that money, I agree with that, but if Arum cared about Crawford's rep, he would've gotten him Danny!

                b) There was no $4 million! It was $3 million, plus upside! Khan got $2 Million more, even though Danny sparked him!

                c) The counter-offer might have happened, had Top Rank called Al Haymon, and not Angel Garcia! They tried to go through the backdoor, and got nothing! Trust me, they knew who to call! They knew who to call for Felix Diaz and John Molina!

Lastly, a lot of these PBC fighters are taking less money for a fight because Al Haymon is helping them make money inside AND outside the ring! The reason TR could call Angel like that, is because DSG has freedom like that! That's what Crawford wishes he had too! See Post # 39.

The logic with these Crawford fans is ridiculous. Ok, so you’re saying Crawford is the best in the division, but he’s fighting weak opposition. Then you want him to prove he’s the best by fighting someone that Spence just beat? Spence is actually the best in the division right now based on resume. For goodness sake, I think even a prime Berto has a better resume than Crawford right now.

Your logic doesn’t make any sense. How are the others going to run? Crawford ran, that’s why he signed back with Top Rank. PBC has given us great welterweight fights like Thurman vs Danny Garcia, Brook vs Spence, Thurman vs Porter, Pacquiao vs Thurman, Danny Garcia vs Porter, and Porter vs Spence. Clearly, PBC gives us fights where the best fight the best. Name the last competitive welterweight fight that Top Rank has given us? I’ll wait....

It’s evident that Crawford is the one ducking the entire PBC roster.

I won’t argue much except for few things. To set the records straight, I’m not a fan of either promoter. If Haymon really treats his boxers like how you are describing them, then that’s good. But I’m just not a fan of creating fences, outcasts and inner circles. That’s how I think Crawford is treated in this situation. And lastly, I read it somewhere there was a 4M offer. Maybe they increased the offer after no responses were received but idk. But I know I read it somewhere. And let’s not compare Garcia and Khan’s offer. You acknowledged it in your A the reason why Khan was offered higher. He had better leverage than Garcia at that moment.
