If Andy Ruiz wins, and Wilder fights him instead of Fury, is that a duck?

All the talk from Wilder's people that Tyson Fury is scared and doesn't want to fight, etc etc.

Meanwhile, Tyson was the first person to announce the February date and has been openly talking about it ever since. Wilder came out and said "I don't think Fury wants to fight, and I think he'd step aside to let me fight the winner of AJ-Ruiz II." Fury came out and said this is far from the truth, and continued to talk up Fury-Wilder II in February.

Now... if Ruiz wins the AJ rematch, and we don't get Fury-Wilder II in February, but instead get the PBC extravaganza, Ruiz-Wilder in the Spring, is that a clear DUCK from Deontay Wilder? All the while Fury has been talking up February, Wilder and his people have been umming and ahhing and already seem to be blaming Fury for a fight not happening then. Seems to me they're getting their excuse in early.

I don't like the thought of having to wait for like May/June to see Wilder Vs. Ruiz, but at the same time having that fight on Cinco De Mayo this would be massive. It would be even better if DAZN ponied up and gave us something very special i.e. Canelo and Ruiz both fighting on the same card. Fat chance of that happening though.

I dunno, I really don't think it would be a duck. If AJ wins I doubt Wilder would be running head first to get into that fight, I can't really blame him for wanting to fight Ruiz. You do what is best for business, potentially unifying all the titles together would put Wilder as the clear A side and it would make a fight with Fury considerably better considering what would be at stake.

No because it's just a convenient alternative brought on by a rare opportunity(chance to fight for unified). Just like fury choosing to delay the wilder rematch originally when he signed with espn wasn't a duck it was just good business.. A duck is when a fighter avoids fighting someone or waits them out til they're not the same fighter, in my opinion. I don't think wilder or fury want to avoid eachother they both know they're a big fight and legacy fight for eachother. Just smart business. Whereas AJ over negotiated the wilder fight and ended up losing his belts and his chance at undisputed. I don't know if that was a duck as I'm not privy to the negotiations but it definitely seemed like one of them was avoiding the fight, I can't determine who. Maybe And management didn't want it unless extremely favourably on their terms, maybe wilder didn't want to fight another KO artist for the first time until he milked the belt a bit more. Wasn't clear to me which side was doing the avoiding.

If not taking the rematch to take two no hope tuneups isn't a duck, then fighting to become undisputed sure as **** isn't.

There is no reason the rematch won't happen and I mean there is no reason DW would be "afraid" of Fury. Even though Fury "won" the first fight I think it's DW that gained the confidence. Fury learned that he can outbox DW for 12 rounds, okay cool. DW learned that he can knock out Fury whenever he wants and he only picked up steam since knocking out Ortiz in the way he did. Fury hasn't done much since to build his confidence with DW.
