Did Rick Glaser say Wilder vs Ortiz 2 only sold 2500 PPV buys?

Glaser appeared on Thaboxingvoice podcast and stated that number didn't come from him, he said as a minimum any PPV would do about 70k buys so 2,500 is completely false..... he did say that the PPV flopped but doesn't have the number.

Like I always say, you don't have to take these numbers seriously. Do your own survey by standing in front of a large group of passers by and ask them if they watch boxing, let alone buy PPVs.

Funny part is same people who expect fantastic numbers are the ones who watch it for free in one way or another. It's laughable.

I won't even believe it did 100K. PPV numbers are overrated, IMO.

I remember when Schaefer and Haymon packed their bags saying goodbye to HBO and headed to Showtime.

You know, Schaefer had been skeptical of HBO's releases of PPV#. He thought they were not reporting the actual ones. In other words, they were cheating.

At last on Showtime Schaefer had a real actual view of the PPVs first hand. He therefore set out to make PPV fights as many as possible. Unfortunately, it seemed every PPV they made flopped and finally halted it and did it on regular subscription. The Broner vs Maidana was originally planned as a PPV event, for example.

It's also about this time when Espinoza finally announced they were not releasing PPPV# anymore unless it did really well... Meaning, any report made is a guess or just pulled out of someone's ass.

Yeah, I remember that.

If there is one guy who knows how unprofitable PPVs are, it's Schaefer. You can add Espinoza and Haymon also.

And Espinoza wasn't even talking about non Mayweather PPVs at that time, he was talking about Floyd PPV's.
