Agreed. People laughed at Hayes performance and his toe, but he went up a weight class, went to the champs backyard to challenge him, he deserves so much more credit.

On the other hand, what did kiltschko do? Never had the smaller man in any real trouble, was a pretty lame performance

Klitschko used his size advantage well and stuck to the no risk tactics he's famous for. Haye did show good reflexes and ability yo avoid punches in that fight though.

Yes , if I remember rightly hayes reactions and slipping were on point in that fight. I believe that haye would of stopped Joshua, AJ doesn't have that same disciplined euro style and jab and grab tactics. He would get silly like with Ruiz and get cracked. That haye would of ruined tony bellew too. Haye losing to bellew ruined his legacy imo

I agree with everything you said there. That being said, Bellew improved massively in the later stages of his career. Injuries ruined Haye. I think anywhere near prime Haye vs Joshua would have been an absolute classic with Haye likely winning it.

Give Haye some credit, he kept losing his damn contact lenses halfway through the fight. That is at least according to James Toney, and he knows boxing.

Both fighters nullified each other and where unwilling to take massive risks 'I don't really think it was a bad performance from Haye, he was fighting the right game plan 'Just not following up on his attacks' At heavyweight he was a ambush fighter, but his ambushing in that fight only consisted of the first stage of attack 'Adam Booth alluded to this, and stated it was the first time Haye? In his career did not follow up on his attacks'.

Nobody was beaten up in the fight or dominated, so I have never understood the way people try and mock Haye for his performance.

Haye was never a Heavyweight, but a prime Heavyweight Haye would have destroyed AJ, Wilder... just not Fury (as a big smart spoiler could beat him).
