Comments Thread For: Valdez: I'm Upset With Gutierrez, Credit To Lopez For Stepping Up

Andres Gutierrez was removed from Saturday's main event against former featherweight world champion Oscar Valdez, as he weighed in at 141 pounds, 11 pounds above the contract weight. Featherweight contender Adam Lopez (13-1, 6 KOs), from Glendale, Calif., stepped up to replace Gutierrez, and he will be in the opposite corner at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas in a WBC super featherweight world title eliminator. Lopez was originally set to defend his Jr. NABF featherweight title against Luis Coria, but he jumped at the opportunity to face Valdez, who will be making his super featherweight debut.

Óscar Valdez is one of my favorite fighters, has slot of talent and skill and the boy fights his ass off... can’t wait to see the champs debut at 30

Berchelt will hurt Valdez. He eats to many punches. I guess bottom line they will both hurt each other. Two Mexicans fighting each other, they will never be the same and will become an easy fight to a nobody who will go on to be promoted as the best of this era.

Any young hungry fighter with Buddy Mcgirt in his corner has more than a punchers chance.
Bar-None one of the best American trainers

Key thing for me is Berchelt has kept improving over recent years, Valdez even with changing trainers hasn't looked as convincing

I concur. But that Mexican pride and pressure in fights like this is too much!! They know people want to see who the real macho man is and all strategies and boxing plans go out the window!!! It becomes a butchery!!!
