It's been debated numerous times on this forum but I don't think he quit. I think it's very likely he wanted to, but at no point did he say he wanted out, or even shake his head. He followed every ref instruction and actually went to walk forward. It was the ref who pushed him back on to the ropes and being as tired as he was, put his arms up onto the ropes to probably take the weight away and/or give the impression he was calm.
I strongly disagree. When Aj was dropped the first 3x he looked the ref in the face and held his gloves up showing he was ready to fight . The fourth knock down he didn’t do that . He walked to the corner and the ref asked if he wanted to fight , he said yes but never came out of the corner , therefore he quit and didn’t want to continue. Here is the video of rd 7. Show everyone where Aj walked out of the corner to fight and the ref pushed him Back

I think he wanted out of there, he just didn’t say “i quit”, more like a relief when the ref waved it off.

So even without saying “i quit” - If you know Inside your own mind that you felt some relief when the ref pulled you out, you must still feel like you kind of quit. But then he did have the fight beaten out of him, so it might be hard not to feel that sense of relief.

Who knows. Only Joshua knows how he feels about it. Does he have the mentality of someone who can check out of a fight easily? - or did he just understand the fight was beaten out of him that night and couldn’t win from that point, so just accept it and go again next time?

I don’t know. I don’t think it’s a good look either way. It looks like he’s only willing to take so much before he wants out.
I honestly don't think he quit. But people see it how they want to I think. Spitting the mouth guard out is a common way to buy time throughout the history of boxing. It has nothing to do with quitting. I would genuinely say he quit if I believed he did. I like Joshua as a fighter but he also annoys me because he talks like he's reading out of a self-help book. Even Wilder's childish boasts are better than hearing Joshua talk.

If he had this whole other plan (like you say) to make the ref stop the fight by telling the ref yes and then looking unresponsive then surely keeping the mouthguard in (which according to you is a sign of not quitting) would be part of that plan to make it look like he wasn't quitting!

Fluffy the fluke had the right mind 1st fight to win...2nd fight he running his mouth..it's going to equal AJ fighting harder and putting more pain on the fat man. Fluffy is still not favored to win rematch.

ruiz can be happy that aj set him for life with these 2 paydays but joshua can keep making 50-100 million even if he keeps on losing for another 2-3 times.
    so who won in life?
Well we know who is Losing in life. You.
And the champion that holds his head up high is winning in life.

    TUA was only 5ft 9, 10
    Ruiz is 6ft 2
Tua had damaged ribs going into the fight

Lewis knew about it and hit him w a wicked body shot in 2,3 round

    After that Tua was tamed

Puzzyfruit quit..he manipulated the ref to make the decision for him

He had never been in a fire fight before..too many easy set ups by Eddie

Mentally he wanted out that night

Wilder senses that fear in Puzzyfruit and Puzzyfruit knows it

Puzzyfruit is doomed if he faces Wilder ..this is a blood sport..not amateur fencing w gloves on

I actually disagree, I think AJ has enough physical advantages to botch a rangey victory especially since Ruiz has slower fee than Parker which is why I think Ruiz is also trying to bait him with this quitting talk.

Rather see him prove people wrong in a barn burner/slugfest or blowout though.
