I get what you're saying, but it was still a quick count. Not every ref count at the same speed, and none have a timer. Some take longer.. then extra time to ask them to move a bit, walk to them .. shake their gloves .. etc. None of that with Bayless who counted quickly. Now ... I think with the drama we've had recently, 2 fighters dying, refs may be quicker to stop it. But Ortiz had taken almost no punishment at all... and had he the chance to get back to the corner, probably could have continued. But we'll never know..

Same as in hundreds of fights.
But y'all gotta hate when Wilder is involved. "The count was early".
Wjhere are all you experts at when they are trying to hire refs and timekeepers for these fights?Comment

A good ref on their job MIGHT look at a fighter after a tough round and 'examine' him tobe sure he's ok to continue. Happens hundreds of times, it's called doing a good job.
If either fighter gets a 'benefit' from that, oh well. As I said, it's happened hundreds of times in boxing history and is acceptable practice for referees. It's a non-issue to fans and fighters alike.
Fan-girls is a different story.Comment
