Comments Thread For: Callum Smith: I'm in a Line of About 50 To Get Canelo Fight

If he beats John Ryder on Saturday night, Callum Smith will have a ticket in the Canelo lottery, but as Smith knows only too well, the chances of hitting the jackpot are negligible. As WBA super-middleweight (and holder of The Ring's belt), Smith might expect to be in contention for the biggest fights around, which for any middleweight, super-middleweight or light-heavyweight right now mean Saul "Canelo" Alvarez. Some might even point out that they are both aligned with DAZN, supposedly easing the way to a clash. But Smith has been around boxing his entire life and knows that is not how it works.

First and foremost, get rid of Ryder within the 3rd round so that I make some money on my bet

Unless you have multiple accounts I'd be embarrassed making such easily disprovable statements that sound like your bitter & make no sense considering its a widely accepted fact Nelo has the #1 resume in boxing for quite a while now.

What odds did you get on that? I think it's unlikely TBH... I know you'll be thinking that if Blackwell can take him out then Mundo should be able to do it quicker, but John's a tough dude and I tend to see the Blackwell loss as bit on aberation. Not saying this won't end in a stoppage, but I'd say mid or late most likely.

            Well, it's just a try.
            1st round, 23/1, 2nd round 17/1, 3rd round 15/1.
I'm hoping in Smith willing to score a quick and impressive knockout to raise his profile in view of a potential Canelo fight.
But indeed I'm not overly hopeful...
I also placed a few Euros on a Wilder vs Ortiz draw, and on Ortiz winning in the 9th...
The "waste of money" weekend, probably

Meh... those kinda odds are probably about right I'd say. It's definitely well within the realms of possibility, but I wouldn't be taking it on myself 'less I had cash to burn.

Yeah and because he’s the real deal he’s number 49 just ahead of Golovkin.

Jacobs was like 31 and in his prime! But you don’t like facts!

Rumor is it’s Saunders next but I’m sure whoever Canelo fights next be it Smith or Saunders you’ll change the goal posts and say Canelo ducking someone else?
