    The Canelo fan paradox

    Scene 1

"Canelo is a great fighter...as a great fighter, he is looking for high risk/low reward challenges...this is what great fighters do, they test themselves and don't take the easy route"

'Yes, well he should fight Golovkin again then...they had two close fights, and a 3rd would be just for GGG...he deserves it...besides, if Canelo wins, and makes it clear he is the better man, surely he will get a lot of credit?'

"No! He will not get credit for beating Golovkin again..they will just say GGG is too old, you fool!...it is a high risk/low reward fight for him and he is wanting...oh sh.it wait"

He just went 12 good rounds with, and scored a KD, and outlanded, a top 4 MW...is that not still a top fighter at 160, where Canelo is a champion?

Also...by virtue of how little credit you say Canelo would get for the win, it is a high risk fight?...Canelo struggled to a 7-5 7-5 6-6 win just 1 year ago...surely GGG would still have a good chance to win...

He wouldn’t get any credit for beating GGG right now. That doesn’t make it high risk though. I think very few analysts would pick GGG to beat Saul at this point.
