Yes, you're right, so Gallagher should be talking UP a Saunders fight - if he thinks his guy can win . . . .Hearn said Gallagher thinks Saunders is a very tricky fight, this was even when Saunders was with Warren. He said for the money Saunders brings, they’re more likely to look at other/easier fights.
Gallagher is Smith’s manager, not just his trainer. So he’s obviously got more financial interest in it, so he will avoid high risk & low reward fights.
But the thing is, Saunders is one of the biggest fights out there for him, especially in the UK. From the fights that fight at 168, or can go to 168, there’s only really GGG and Canelo that are bigger fights. I think the public would probably be more interested in Smith v BJS than guys like Jacobs, Benavidez etc.. especially when it’s a british unification fight, held in the UK.
160-168 is pretty thin on big draws, apart from Canelo and GGG.Comment

Well maybe he doesn’t think he can win.
Even when Warren had BJS and they made an offer for BJS v Smith, which wasn’t enough money, why didn’t Hearn/Gallagher even try to counter the offer. Gallagher just give them a flat out no.
If you think it’s a fight that could be made, then you go back with a counter offer surely or some kind of negotiating? - So to me it seem like it’s a fight they just don’t want.
I don’t think Smith himself would duck it, he doesn’t seem the hype. But Joe Gallagher being both manager and trainer doesn’t seem to fancy it.Last edited by deathofaclown; 11-19-2019, 01:42 PM.Comment

Yeah, that seems to be the case. Sort of suggests a lack of confidence in his fighter though, doesn't it.Well maybe he doesn’t think he can win.
