Comments Thread For: Haye, Bellew Debate if Anthony Joshua 'Quit' in Andy Ruiz Loss

Right. AJ tried to buy himself as much time as possible. Nothing wrong with that. Still every fighter knows it’s a fine line to play. Given enough extra time he’d have gotten back in there I’m sure, but anything less than that he knew would be detrimental to his health. The amount of time between a fighter getting up and a ref starting the fight again is prolly all over the place.Comment

The man looked to his corner to throw in the towel and the ref for help, so you know what that means!
Ruiz is a horrible style match up for AJ!
AJ is gonna have to stick and move and tie up Ruiz whenever Ruiz closes the distance!
I think Ruiz closes the show in 10 this time!Comment

I've seen you mention this a few times and i'd genuinely like you to explain your thoughts behind it. I can follow the idea that if he's done, he will lose to Ruiz. But he if he wins, how is he still done? If he has enough to beat Ruiz while being done, i'm curious how much better the version of AJ prior to the loss was?Comment

... AJ is loading hard at mid range (coming from outside)... AJ did this twice in the Ruiz fight: in the 3rd and in the 7th... and he got badly countered by Ruiz, who floored him twice in both those rounds... and such weaknesses tend to become "patterns" in the future, I guess...
(and I have nothing against AJ... the guy is candid...)Comment

... now there exist a blueprint on how to KO AJ...

He did the same thing Khan did against Crawford.
He knew he was going to lose the fight, was clearly looking for a way out.
So yes, he quit because he didn't want to get humiliated further by being knocked out.Comment

I watched the fight live. Didn't you see the other 3 knockdowns and how he reacted ? He looked at the ref in the face and held his gloves up on
knockdown number 4 he turned away and stayed in the corner, that was his way of saying he was done. The ref did say are you ready to box , Joshua said yes but didn't come out of the corner. Watch and listen.
Go to the 23 min mark.
He quit.

You are just trolling. Like I keep saying he walked to the corner to have his gumshield put back in. Boxers throughout history have spat out their gumshield to buy time. If you don't know that - you shouldn't be commenting.
Boxers who want to quit 1. They don't get up - they stay down. It's the easiest way to avoid losing face, Just pretend you can't get up. 2. They don't answer when asked if they want to continue.
So you are telling me Joshua stood up so he could quit on his feet?Comment

Haha so suddenly he does say he wants to continue? But before you said he didn't.

He got a twenty seven count from the ref, turned his back on him, had to be told “face me, this isn’t a break” and still didn’t answer if he was ready to go until the fourth time he was asked.
He quit. Looked very similar to Khan quitting against Crawford a few weeks earlier. Must have gone to the same british school of quit.
Guy had been knocked down 4 times. And should have been stopped anyway the state he was in. You want him to do a maths test? He got up off the canvas and said 'Yes' when asked if he wanted to continue. He doesn't need to do anything else in his mind. He's waiting for the mouthguard.
It's obviously important to you that Joshua quit. I get itComment
