I am not sure Kovalev was not paid to lose. He never threw any punches with bad intentions that I saw at any time in the fight. TheKO was real and Canelo hit him very hardand really did knock him out. But that would be a small price to pay if he was paid many millions of dollars not to win. The people backing Canelo have tons of money and a lost to Kovalev would have cost them big time in the future. I think Hopkins knew he could take Oscar out any time in the later rounds so he just took his time. I don't think Oscar lost on purpose but I do think he could have gotten up but he knew Hopkins was going to give him a beating from that point on so he stayed down. I have no inside knowledge of either fight being fixed and maybe they were not fixed but I think Kovalev lost on purpose based on him turning from the crusher into the tapper the whole fight and never throwing a punch I saw with any power.

            - -Kov a natural long distance fighter with serious pop on his average punch. He never loads up unless the guy is ready to go.

Canelo presented the smallest target and best defense he'd ever seen. He hit Canelo plenty and arguably winning the fight but for taking steady body shots and a few uppercuts.

He had a solid plan and boxed well, but he was in with a better boxer who prevailed...end of...

Who the hell would allow themselves to be punched in the face for potentially hundreds of thousands or millions of dollars in payout?

                Lots of people. Lots.

Can't remember which video it was, but someone demonstrated it's because he got countered hard to the body early in the fight when he tried to load up. He's significantly slower than Canelo, so when he tried to load a power shot, he both missed and got hit to the body. The result was that he turned into a jabber, but Canelo barely landed anything to the body.

This fight didn't seem fixed to me at all. Kovalev was doing well. He said he got really tired after 6.. I didn't see around 6th, but by the 9th-10th he had trouble keeping his hands up for sure.

The childish ignorance and naivete of so many on this forum is pitiful. There are hundreds of millions of dollars riding on Canelo's brand. Anyone with a clue could smell the rat long before Canelo and Kovalev ever stepped in the ring. How are they going to make their money on Canelo?? Even with this little reality show they're still going to need a miracle.
