Fair enough...most fighters would take the fight for money like that. But then by saying it, Kov expects us to assume 1. If he had more time, he would have beat Canelo 2. If had more time, he would have had a different strategy and would beat Canelo...If only... At the end of the day, it amounts to excuses and casting doubt on Canelo's performance. I'm glad that future generations would just see the L and the W for Canelo, and this nonsense would go away.

So that being the case this sounds like some weird bad loser sh^t to me or excuse making & anger about losing.

Kov is an odd dude & a bad loser for such a high level cat whos had a HOF caliber career.
I don't like Kovalev in general, and do think he's a bad loser in some ways. He's the cause of some of his own problems. But to be fair, I can't blame him for a lot of sht that's happened to him.

He was having himself a really nice career, even though he was lax about training (his own fault). Then comes the Ward fight, where he does extremely well then Fs up by humoring Ward and fighting inside. As a result, he gets robbed on the cards. Dude is annoyed, thinks he's better than Ward and wants to prove it. Ward plays with his head by not agreeing to the rematch, Kovalev gives up his half of the money (which was ****** AF).
Then Ward's camp plays all those games with his head - with that James Prince (or whatever) threatening his family, causing a rift between Kov and his coach. Kov comes into the rematch completely unprepared and gasses in the 3rd round. He gets hit in the nuts throughout the fight, Ward gets warned twice, then the ref changes his tune and calls the shots legal. Fight gets stopped on lowblows. Kov goes off the deep end.. comes back, boxes OK, then gets caught by Alvarez who he underestimates and KOd. Here, he pretty much knows his career is done. Comes back.. outboxes Alvarez, takes a tuneup, gets screwed around by Yarde when he goes through 2 camps.. then gets an offer from Canelo to cash out.

I do not think Canelo fight was fixed in any shape or form. But I do think that Kovalev is 100% right in his assessment. They gave him no time to recuperate after Yarde. (they = not blaming Canelo, but both him and DAZN) I don't think he planned on getting KOd, but I do believe him when he says he expected to lose with all the odds stacked against him. Canelo is VERY difficult to beat in Vegas. Those scorecards at the time of the stoppage were pretty bad. Kovalev didn't even seem surprised about the loss. He just kinda shrugged it off and said "good for him he won".

In short, I think his bad habits, experiences with Ward, then shocking loss to Storm have put him into severe depression in regards to boxing. If the fight against Canelo wasn't a complete cash out, I'd be shocked if we ever saw him fight on world stage again unless there's significant money involved. My guess is he takes 1 easy fight (outside top20) and retires on a "high note".

He also has a very experienced coach who could have walked him through it if he was predisposed to listen. Ruiz took his fight against Joshua on short notice as well, coming off of another fight, and smoked him.
Not true. Even a couple of weeks after the Yarde fight there still were "talks". Canelo's team waited till the last possible moment.

I know your a huge fan of his but that is how I feel
The groundwork was laid out even before the fughin Yarde fight , so for him coming out like that is just fughin ludicrous
He knew all this chit before he signed the contract
Might as well just come out and say this was a money grab and that’s it
Instead he gave false hopes to his fans only to come out after and excuses excuses
So , now do you still believe your conspiracy thoughts
The guy is fughin done but as long as he can fool fans like yourself ( worse of all then comes out and states it ) and take you for another spin , oh well
This like a thief who robs the bank , then needs to come out to the media and explain how he did it

Actually the thread I made after the fight was very accurate. Conspiracy thoughts? This was indeed staged. Kovalev was claiming how he was ready to win, but Kovalev came to lose. He himself did not believe in his victory and did not try to win. And his performance showed it. When I said staged, I was talking about the fight, not the KO moment.

And yes, he spit on all his fans by doing what he did. Prior to the fight he was saying how he is in shape, ready to defend HIS division, and now he says how he was completely drained barely able to make weight, without any rest, and in zero condition to fight on a championship level.
