I disagree with Pulev. I think elite fighters have the capacity to implement a different strategy or tactic that can change the course and result of a fight.

Joshua is an elite fighter that can do that. In his last 2 fights, he decided to give up his strengths of imposing his size, moving toward his opponent behind a strong jab, and counterpunching their offense with a solid arsenal of power punches on the inside to fighting on the outside allowing his opponent to come to him with his lead hand down, moving laterally, and trying to counterpunch off of their offense.

I think that the robot criticism affected him to the point that he willingly gave up his advantages to show that he can be a "non-robotic" fighter. It cost him rounds against Povetkin and the fight against Ruiz. It's the difference between Canelo-GGG I and II (except Canelo has an A+ defense either way).

If he decides to embrace his strengths, stand his ground/walk Ruiz down behind his jab, he's going to make Ruiz uncomfortable and stop him (note: standing his ground/walking Ruiz down does not mean fighting on the inside with him, it means forcing Ruiz' momentum backward by imposing himself and his jab at mid range (meet Ruiz with the jab if he tries to get inside or take a momentary step back reset and move forward). If he decides to give up his strengths, he can win a decision, where he looks fragile and leaves himself open to getting hurt again. We'll see.
